Nearly every season, we see a team in the National Football League rise from the basement to win a division title. It used to be an almost annual event in the NFC South.
Last season, the Washington Redskins became NFC East champions after four straight last-place finishes. And Mike Shanahan’s club did it the hard way, opening 3-6 before closing 2012 with seven straight victories.
Every Friday, we will take a brief look back and ahead when it comes to the eight teams that finished a year ago and rank them from worst to best. By season’s end, will one of these clubs claim a division championship? Time will have to tell.
