Notice anything funny about the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos? Not a lot of people outside of the Mile High City are talking about the team’s chances of repeating what they did a year ago. But the bottom line is if you include last season’s playoffs, Gary Kubiak’s club has won nine straight games dating back to last season.

They’ve also done it with three different starting quarterbacks (Brock Osweiler, Peyton Manning and Trevor Siemian) and a fill-in appearance by a rookie. On Sunday at Denver, Paxton Lynch will make his first NFL start.

In last week’s relief job at Tampa Bay, the 2016 first-round pick was busy completing 14 of his 24 pass attempts for 170 yards. That included a five-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders in the fourth quarter. The rookie quarterback was sacked just once. But both he and starter Trevor Siemian got just enough support from a ground attack that gained only 89 yards but totaled 32 attempts.
